Avil ( Flattened rice/ Poha) Samosa


 Avil samosa is one the easiest, delicious and spicy samosa filling i ever had. Try this quick and easy preparation and you will absolutely love it's taste. There is white and brown rice flakes varieties are available. I used brown rice flakes .It is more harder than white. They need to wash properly (2 or three times) and soak in water for 2-3 minutes. You can replace them with white rice flakes; they just need to give a quick wash and soak in water for a minute. Drain them properly and cook.


Ingredients:
  1. Brown Rice flakes-1 cup (or white)
  2. Thinly grated coconut- 1/4 cup
  3. Oil-1 tbsp
  4. Cumin seeds-1 tsp
  5. Onion thinly chopped-1 large
  6. Ginger thinly chopped-1 tbsp
  7. Green chilly thinly chopped-2
  8. Coriander leaves chopped-1 tbsp
  9. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  10. Chilly powder- 1/2 tsp
  11. Pepper powder-1/2 tsp
  12. Coriander powder-1 tsp
  13. Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
  14. Salt-to taste
  15. Samosa sheets-about 15 numbers
  16. Oil-for frying
Preparation:
  • Wash the rice flakes well in water and soak them in water for 2 minutes. Drain it well and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan; splutter cumin seeds.
  • Add thinly chopped ginger and saute for a minute.
  • Add thinly chopped onion and saute for another a minute.
  • Add all the powders (except salt)and green chilly on low flame; Mix well.
  • Add Grated coconut and rice flakes.
  • Stir Cook for about 5 minutes and switch off the flame by adding coriander leaves.
  • Allow the mixture to cool completely before filling.
  • After cools down fill one or two tablespoons of filling in each sheets and fry until nice golden.
  • Drain in to paper towels and serve warm!!!
